I was trying to get feedback on this idea and was just told to post here. I said it's kind of almost more than one suggestion at a time, I was advised to try anyways. Thankfully I managed to keep it somwhat concise though.
Planar Conduit:
Summons a tier 5 into the henchmen slot (similar to dominating creatures in that its sequencer only still) and a gate summon that works just like gate with gate duration and works with any planar stream.
- The henchmen slot will allow other planar spells including spamming more gates.
- Other non planar summon spells will dismiss the planar henchmen (balance and thematic reasons)
- Can chill with a tier 4 and tier 5 summon by combining greater planar binding with conduit
- Can have a temporary burst effect by replacing the tier 4 with a gate.
- Makes extend gates from clerics of certain domains really useful for those going for a fiend summoner/etc (less fuss about lack of mass haste)
- Having a Gate and permanent Tier 5 stack will be similar in power to normal planar conduit but with a temporary power burst feel.
A secondary half idea that is a continuation of the first one:
Eldritch summon:
Now counts as true henchmen allowing warlock to apply buff spells and combine with other summon spells (those summons still need sequencers).
- allows warlocks to properly haste/buff their summons which summonlocks were originally balanced around with their steep feat investment
- allows a summon lock to compete with invoker planar conduit and create summonlock more competative with it's other build options (this works well thematically and mechanically)
- can combine a planar summon or dark invocation gate ability with their eldritch summon similar to above posted planar conduit
