An idea for Enchanting

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

An idea for Enchanting

Post by Kalimere »

So there's buzz going around about changing enchanting to make it a little less difficult or costly upon failures. I've always thought that enchanting would be made somewhat neat if it required "components" like high-tier spellcasting. Its always made me giddy at the idea of a mage dropping (example) dragon blood and rat-tails into a pool to do enchanting, beyond just dumping a pile of gold into the basin. I don't have all the details worked out, but I was thinking simple things, such as perhaps a log of hardwood, durable and resiliant, would aid in Constitution enchants, or maybe even dropping a potion of bulls strength into the basin would help with Strength. I'm not saying the components would, or should completely eliminate the need for gold, but significantly reduce it, or atleast bump the success rate up. Just an idea I had.
