Exile/Citizenship Revocation

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Exile/Citizenship Revocation

Post by Tashalar »

If you've been exiled from a settlement you become able to - IF you can get to the Herald/Registrar (as that dictates having the Bluff/Perform to do so) - forge a signature, bribe an official, whatever's needed, to be able to "Remove That CRIMINAL!" from the citizenship roster.
Maybe conversation options with ranges of difficulty and/or gold cost, because that entails the risk of carrying that much gold around a town that doesn't want you there.

Now that citizenships are permanent, why tie someone to a place if they've been exiled from it for one reason or another - be that corrupt officials, crimes the person's committed, legitimate or illegitimate IC reasons?

I don't see town officials wanting the people that've been exiled from their settlements to have any influence/increase on the supplies needed each year, or on the voting process (Despite that not being mechanically possible, RP). Obviously, there'd be no refund involved, regardless of whether it was town officials doing it or the exiled individual involved. Bribe money can disappear into the ether or be added to the settlement treasury.

You can't vote or do anything with regards to interacting with the registrar despite the necessity of a disguise to pass the checks to GET to them. They seem to know who you are, and immediately tell you to 'begone, criminal!' or the like.

TL;DR
"Get these criminals off our books! We don't want to be stockpiling for -their- needs when they don't even live here!"

Alternate suggestion (Due kudos to Yma for this): Automate (but randomise, so people can't just election-abuse like they did before) a removal from the roster if you've been exiled solidly for a length of time.
