Corrosive Acid Nerf

I want to preface this by saying I understand the reason for the nerf. It allowed you to get into a lot of places you shouldn't have been able to. That was cheesy, I agree.

But what this acid also allowed you to do, is break open stupidly high dc locks, for those more often than not moments, when you don't have a character or friend that has 80+ skill in open lock.

Could we at least re-enable the acid to melt away locks with a dc?

The acid is acquired with no small amount of effort.

  • You have to know where to get it.
  • You have to have explosive barrels to get in
  • You have to have a decent enough sail skill to find the place reliably
  • It's a 15+ min sail to get there.
  • You only get one use of the acid.

It was a nice little reward for all that effort, to be able to melt away a very high dc lock, like the 80dc one in the Minogon Factory that's on an UNBREAKABLE chest. Or the nice 80 dc lock on the Cloaker Hall. I can't see these as game breaking to be melted with a special, hard to get, acid.

Pls and ty

It loads on a map that every sailor knows how to access, from a spawn that everyone who has ever opened a specific kind of pirate chest knows about. You can pretty safely reach it with nothing but sail gear on the penny rose (you just set sail and go belowdecks for about 15 minutes).

Once you're there, it's not a hard fight, and the corrosive acid is a guaranteed drop.

To summarize, several hundred players know how to get this guaranteed drop item. Many of them can do it solo.

We can at least stop pretending that this is "rare" "obscure" or "hard to get"; the only thing that was at all hidden from the playerbase about this was the fact that it'd allow you to get into some places you really should never have been able to access.

Edit: Also, given how Arelith spawns work, you can farm as many of these as you need by walking off the map it spawns on, walking back to the spawn location, and clearing the boss again.

Honestly I feel like it should have occurred to the people who were abusing the item that it should never have been in game to begin with.

Invest in Open Lock if you want to open doors.
