How do you walk?
When you're playing Arelith, how do you usually move (outside of combat)?
Do you click on the ground to move? Or use drive mode with WASD?
(Asking because we're looking at an enhancement and trying to assess its performance cost).

Re: How do you walk?
I move with WASD to run. I use spacebar and ASD to move at a normal pace, got spacebar gound to walk.
When it's very short distances, I use the mouse. Whenever there is an area transition, I use the mouse too.

Re: How do you walk?
I think you voted click to move, even though you mainly use drive mode?

Re: How do you walk?
Most of the time, WASD, because pathfinding on anything but empty flat terrain is garbage.
When I'm with people, I usually click-to-move, so that I can type.
When I'm bored and alone, click, alt-tab, browse reddit, alt-tab, repeat.
EDIT: Would be nice if NWN had an auto-move command like TES games. All the necessary continuity for a scene of The West Wing, without the drain on server resources.

Re: How do you walk?
When I am not typing, WASD. When I am (If I'm with people, for instance), Shift+Click

WASD, unless around placeables or that annoying spot right near the Cordor bulletin board where I am forced to stop -every- time...

Re: How do you walk?
I'm terrribly unskilled at using keys, so I shift click.

Re: How do you walk?
I assigned F to walk, and I use W for running. I use shif-click for emoting while walking (to avoid awkward pauses).

Re: How do you walk?
I use both.
Re: How do you walk?
If both, pick the one you use more.
I'm pretty sure everyone uses both to some extent, so I deliberately didn't put a both option on there - the poll would be pretty useless that way

WASD here. Using the mouse is for kids. Unless going out of the north Cordor gate, and getting stuck on the invisible wall on the 2nd slope. Then you gotta use the mouse.

WASD. I only use mouse in combat.
A bit same as DirtyDeity, I have a walk mode on E key though!

I use WASD when I'm moving around without typing, Shift-click when I need to type, Shift-click or left click when I'm at the spots with invisible walls where WASD doesn't let you pass through it.'
Voted WASD because that's what I normaly use under normal circumstances(people move more then they type)
I also use this though, so walking with the keys is substantialy easier then the mouse. I actually never use the keyboard unless I'm typing.(I even use the device above to Shift-Click)
Re: How do you walk?
I use WASD when playing an elf, Search mode with left click when playing Humans. For some reason, I have never learned to use shift-click.

Re: How do you walk?
I put run on my space key. And set up 'W' for walking. So in times of rush I just forget my thumb on the space. Very comfortable.
Re: How do you walk?
I have the Spacebar bound to my Drive Mode Forward key - which makes you move forward at walking speed regardless of Detect/Stealth Mode. This plus A and D is useful.
I do that a lot if I ever (god forbid) play elves or more likely drow, or on my other chars if I' walking around on the regular. If I need to type while walking I detect mode-click, while in battle it's a combination of both depending on tactics.
So, uh. "How do you walk?" 'Yes.'

Twily - I was debating buying one of those; do you like it?
For the question, mostly I use WASD, though I use click-move when I run into invisible walls.

Re: How do you walk?
I use WASD to move mainly, and click to turn fast.
I also use QE a lot.

Re: How do you walk?
Primarily a clicker here. It's absolutely crucial for quick, precise turning, which is important for someone running a spot character, especially when one has occasion to use a *looks* check. Those suckers have a downright picky angle of acceptance, and the drive mode turn speed makes a character handle like a gimpy hippopotamus when a quick re-facing is needed.

I do WSAD when I'm being lazy, clicking when I need to be precise.

Re: How do you walk?
I voted for WSAD because that's what I use for short distances or combat. Anything else it's pretty much Shift + Click

Re: How do you walk?
I click to move on my characters, as I tend to enjoy doing the Aaron Sorkin walk-and-talk when I wander around.
