On Parchments and Gift Wrap

In complement to the event my PC just held, I utilized some of the fancy parchments purchased at the Guldorand Notary as well as Gift Wrap. Here are some observations:

• Fancy Parchments of the same type always stack, even if a basin enchantment is applied to one. This made creating customized invitations problematic. I ended up using Gift Wrap to keep them separate, which prompted several "oh what a lovely box" comments even though I emoted that it was a wrapped parchment.

• A stack of Gift Wrap can be renamed, but that rename doesn't apply when used. Example: I renamed a stack of Gift Wrap as "Wrapped Fate Card" so I could wrap thirty-two individual books. However, when the Gift Wrap was applied to the books, the default wrapped-item name of "Package (Paper)" still showed, and I had to rename everything in the basin.

• Writing Paper, both unused and then when made into a letter, cannot be Gift Wrapped.

• Fancy Parchments cannot be stored in a Notebook, a Book Bag, or any other container. Even though I wanted to use Fancy Parchments for other event elements, I ended up using Books and Notebooks because I needed to make things ahead of time and couldn't sustain dozens of four-square spaces for wrapped items.

Thanks for reading!

I've moved this as it was more of a suggestion than a feedback/discussion thread. Unfortunately at the same time we won't be making these changes. Noted below why:

  1. Parchments like those from the notary are more intended as RP tools, not as a stand in for writing paper. While it would be great to be able to use them for writing on using the system, it just isn't built for that. What you describe is a larger issue with basin renaming/redescribing that affects many items (notably food) and changing that would cause other issues so we can't fix it at this time that items of the same type with different details stack.

  2. This is intentional, gift wrap does not transfer any of the naming to the wrapped item to avoid players unintentionally doing so. You can rename them after they have been wrapped instead.

  3. Writing Paper intentionally cannot be wrapped. We have another system in our heads to handle this and allowing wrapping would cause issues in the future because of it. No ETA on this.

  4. This is intentional.
