The devastating news that the character you have built getting mechanically nuked or outright changed is dreadful news for anyone. The bigger and harder hit is when an award, especially a rarer one, was used when creating the character. Due to the ever-changing but necessary changes to classes, the ask is to at least permit the award used to be refunded.

Nothing else for -remake_character would change: there's a sacrifice for wanting to be mechanically meta.
