Hello, fast question, when using a sextant it states that its 17min before entering a new qaudrant, with the conversion rate being 3x normal time would that be 17 divided by 3? Or 17min irl?

Neither.

The sextant references minutes, but it's just a unit.
Each time the ship enters a new quadrant a pool of these units is created depending on the sailing check (smaller number if the check is successfully passed, bigger number if the check is failed)
Then every 12 IRL seconds a number depending on the ship's speed (there is a conversion formula) is subtracted from the pool and once all the units are depleted the ship moves to the next quadrant.

Huh, where's that documented? I don't ever remember reading that on the wiki.

Well that changes my strategy on "do I have time to step away while sailing?"
