Make lanterns and similar items functional temporary fixtures

I recently attempted to set my angler's lanterns on the ground and was disappointed to find that not only did it not make light, I couldn't even cast the light spell upon it.
If easily possible, I think it'd add a lot of RP potential for lamps, torches, and similar items to be deployable as temporary fixtures in a similar way to tents.
