Howdy!
Title says it all, is necro specialist wizard worth it? Any tips for it?
I'm thinking on going 27 wizard 3 warlock (at epics), but i wonder if its worth to lose divination spells for the buff to necro summons that the speciality gives me
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks!

It's a great way to specialize in animation without sticking dead parts on your body (pale master). I've had a few people tell me they enjoyed it.

Absolutely worth it. The best part of Necromancy spec is that you can destory a whole swarm of mobs with one cast, nobody else could catch up with your speed. Signature casts of circle of death kills. Arcane flux with wail of banshee or empowered circle of death also kills.
While against a boss, you can spam your over twenty casts of instant death spell to fish a n1. Abundant abominations will earn you enough time to casts these spells. Minor mobs around boss will die quickly with your wail of banshee or weird.
Although I haven't RP as my necromancer for a while, it's still the best caster experience I ever have, even compared with hemomancer.

On one hand you have entire arsenal of death spells that remove mosth of alive things with one click, undeads are really strong and with SR in 28-30 range they ignore turning, scrolls and low level spells from non-clerics, extended blackfire is wizard's hell inferno. All of it is really nice.
However it comes with a drawback of no premonition, no see invisibility, no true sight, all three are very useful because on lvl30 everyone have those and you cant even read scrolls and need to rely on staffs. Which is not a problem in pve scenarios (but even then theres invisible enemies) but pvp - in wide sence not only just combat scenarios - lack of TS and SI really hurt you.
You have problem with death immune enemies, saves on death spells are not very high so most of the PCs - and many npcs around lvl30 dungeons - can pass those relatively easily, so you hit them with circle and then banshee and half of them still standing.
Also Spe.Necr pretty much guarantees a death aura and the moment people see it they assume you're a pm/necromancer (even if death aura does not nessesarily means that).
So yeah, its mixed experience and you should be ready you'll have serious drawbacks.

Only if your not going pale master.
I have a necromancer specialist that is also a PM, and to get the benefits from PM you can't take enough wizard to gain the bonuses from the necro specialist.
For divination just garb an eye of savras for see invis/true seeing.
Also with summons now guarding you premonition isn't really needed you still get greater stoneskin and shadow shield.

Yes, I agree currently there's not much of a reason to go Necromancer Specialist. Maybe if you dont like bone arm then sure but other than that wiz\pm with maxed con is just better as a summoner of undead but also it terms of spells and general survivability.
