Jotunhold Quarter Changes [Feedback Thread]

Hello everyone!
I recently started to play in Jotunhold and I already grew accustomed to that place, therefore I decided to give myself a permission to start a feedback thread regarding that place.

At the start I would like to thanks developers or staff responsible for changes for theirs hard work on Arelith. It not easy to spend theirs private time to work on a server and I suspect only passion must fuel such dedication. Therefore I would like to notice that opinion I am going to write below, is not attack on someone else work, but constructive (I hope at least) feedback from someone who plays around that place and liked previous aesthetics.

Let's start from the positives:

I must admit, that I think the best changes are ones that blend so nicely, that are difficult to see. Some of the meshes have been fixed and small touches been applied to that area. Even small tweaks that seems minor, but are fixed shows great care about details. Truth is that people would often see things that are missing that are replaced...

What I don't like about changes:

Some things disappeared and some been replaced by others. Probably most crucial change I noticed was Annam altar that is missing, leaving large empty space. It's not something that cannot be replaced by players if they wish to, but I especially remember that texture of previous one was quite unique, that looked like altar to god, with offering on top of them and nice white cloth over it. If by some chance it could be re-introduced I would be probably a boon not only to Jotunhold, but also whole playerbase.

Second are missing banners near dragon skulls. Those gave Jotunhold this unique "castle" vibe. They were also a great addition to history of that place, helping uphold a feeling of preserving sagas and great deeds. I definitely would love to see them returned either in form of map placed element as before or player fixture. In place of those banners, other been placed, around entrance to Throne Room and in it as well. I must admit that overall idea is great, I would I would love to see different textures used. As one of people I spoke with mentioned "it's too much skulls, too much orcish" - I agree, previous textures would be more fitting, maybe mixing them with more dragon elements.

Last minor thing that seems off to me is replacement of wooden throne with stone one. I think previous concept provided this unique vibe, where things are created out of wood, like a hold in deep forest - I don't know, maybe it's that surroundings of torches that speaks to me more. In complete honesty, that change is really minor for me and if I would have to choose one to keep, it would be it.

If anybody reached this point, I would like to thanks them for reading and I hope we will gather here many great opinions about the change.

My own feedback on what stood out to me:

  • The new flags block line of sight, this is the biggest issue with the ones around the throne room because they completely block 85% of the viewing angles.
  • The skull flags don't fit the theme of Jotunhold at all, maybe if we were ogres.
  • They look in the way when walking down the stairs at the entrance to the hold and up the stairs when heading to the inner keep.
  • The red flags are so bright that it kind of clashes with the muted look of the place. I don't hate the flags, but it would look a lot better if they weren't so bright.

About the altar:
The altar has been removed because I regret adding it with such prominent placement in the guildhouse, unlike the altars to Hiatea and Surtr, which are more discreet. Now, the guildhouse owner can place whatever altar they want there. For instance, I am sure that if Jotunhold was owned by a Firbolg Cleric of Ulutiu, they wouldn't like an altar to Annam as the big main shrine inside the castle, after all, speaking Ulutiu's name during cleric rituals of Annam is a very literal death sentence. 'No altar' means the guildhouse owner can tailor things to their tastes. Also, yeah, the old altar is already craftable.

About the banners:
The skull and red banners will be replaced next reset.

The altar makes sense, being able to replace it is a good change and I agree with it. However we cant dedicate one to Annam because its not possible to worship him, at least not mechanicly. The banners around the throne room are egregious Im not blameing you its just poor for players, they both block the veiw and kind of feel out of place. Some of them fit well like the woman reaching into the maw of a dragon fits the vibe. It'd be nice if we had our own 'settlement' banner. I seriously dislike the new chair, The wooden one was more fitting for the theme of jotunhold in my opinion. The colour feels a little monotonous and bleached out, the brown from the wooden one had good contrast with the rest of the area, it feels more like a king or warcheifs throne.

Thanks you Twohand for answer!

Question - maybe it's possible to add "temple" altar (I think it's a thing) where owner can choose which god it represent?
