Infestation of Maggots

I'd assume this is intention, that being said...
Would it be possible on lower level bosses to have this only reduce your CON to 4 (-3) to avoid low level bosses having a death spell most lower level's can't avoid?
It just seems rather hard mode to have a boss that can literally (albeit in a delayed sense) 1 hit a character when it's a level 3-8 boss.
It'd still reduce your HP by at least 9, so it's still affective.
Just my thoughts.

can't you use a kit or potion to stop it from actually killing you?

Or kill it using a ranged weapon, or dodge the touch attack, or make one of your fort saves, or set traps and draw it out, or send your summon in first, or well you get the idea...

Not too sure, to be truthful, preacher. I know immunity to disease doesn't actually help (at least given via items etc).
To point it out these bosses are for low level characters. Their summons aren't great and they typically have lower touch AC/fort saves and only rogues have access to traps at that level.
The point is, sure a group can help. But if it perchance targets the fighter of the group in ONE of it's casts, they're practically dead should they be actually be a low level.

I have never seen that certain boss succeed in his nefarious maggotting.
You just need a lowbie fighter for the job.

The boss is by no means too powerful. I have witnessed the con-loss kill once. It's good that he has it.
Notice that his staff bashing is worthless. His DCs are low, and his AC is nonexistent.
Without the option of him killing you with CON loss, he's little more than another 'Humongous Cockroach'
(The CON loss can be removed through non-expensive IC means. Just need to use them.)
