Bardin's going sabbatical (smashing things)

What had started as a bit of a distraction from Bardin and his RP, has now ended up taking over my playtime completely. Before I'd hopp between my orog and ol' Bardin, I've come to the decision that now is a good time to shelve him for an indefinite period. I do plan to return to him at some point and find an end to his story, but for now, I've found myself just enjoying my orog more.

Sending that prologue ahead, I'd also like to extend my thanks to all the players, that made my playtime on Bardin as enjoyable, as it was. So, here goes the first round, before they start slipping my flawed memory:

The good:

Ghestaldt Blimth:
What I loved the most here, is how well OOC and IC opinions were seperated. I know, we tend to take it for granted at times, but this deserves some special mention, on my mind. While Ghestaldt and Bardin might have wuved eachother very deep down, all the time, on the outside they had grown to have their differences. Being their stubborn selves, they did not shy back from voicing their sometimes not-so-good opinions of eachother (mostly Ghestaldt, though, kek). If anything, this had lead to even more enjoyable RP and for this experience, I only got high praise.

The earthkin:
Now, I'm really sorry, but you're all way too many. I'd sit here for hours, just trying to get all of your names down. Let's see, there's the rest of the Blimths, there's former thane Tabitha, Gemina, Shanna Tahir (well, kinda), Red Highfen, Buppi (triggered), Airean, Thondor, Storunn (that Duma/Abbathor religious RP, tho), Saphira Blackstone, RDSF Melenstrum (this name, srsly)... I've pushed this here to the side for too long already and.. I have to admit, it's already getting hard to come up with more names. Please, if you feel missed out here, do take it out on my memory and not on me. Let me just lose this bit here for you:
I really enjoyed what kind of racial RP we all created together; the earthkin alliance, the defensive forces, the religious disputes... It all felt so very authentic and looking back on it, I am once more truely amazed. Thank you. The whole lot of you.

Buppi, the pickled:
Ye thought ye were done, din' ye? Think Oi 'ad forgotten 'bout yer grave insult o' me pickled kind?
-- Let me drag Bupps out of the earthkin section and lose a few more words;
Another relationship that felt so very real. The spectrum of emotion ranged from whimsical sillyness to mad anger and that is something that's stuck to me. Also, I got to reveal part of that silly long backstory to Bupps, so, yeah.
One day, Bardin will come back for your pickle.

Liunia Lillith:
I'll do right by you, one day. Bardin has not forgotten what's been said after Borin's departure. But, for that to happen, I need to step back from Bardin for now and return to him, when I feel him more.

Shaeyl Amarallis:
If I've taken one thing away from Bardin's RP with her, it's to never stop RPing out even the smallest encounters, as mundane as they may seem on the first glance. To think back how they both got to know eachother and and how ridiculously their relationship had grown from that..
I guess this is the RP equivalent of "eat yer greens".

Guldorand:
Now, while I enjoyed many characters Bardin's encountered in the mountain village, leaving Brog to once more be part of an aspiring project such as this.. I don't have it in me. You peeps do good.
Let me just list off Draavos Lynn, Oakes, Eamon Voigte from the top of my head real quick.

Rayne Ensant, dreng-dammazi
I hope you are out there, somewhere. Rayne's plot was one of the first Bardin, and me, got invested in. Bardin felt his pain. This ignited great care for the gruff and bitter soldier.
He's still sitting on the two dozen diamonds he collected for you and I really hope this story gets the ending it deserves, some time.

The bad:
Now, while this section might seem short, let me emphasize, how greatly I appreciate well played antagonists. It's just the rarety at which you get to RP with them, which leaves me with such few words.

Karerk Zirik and the banites:
Alright. This. This was so awesome. This lawful clash between good and evil is what made Bardin's time as warden a whole lot more enjoyable. And again, while our characters might have dreaded eachother, you guys, thank you.

The necromancers:
Another bunch of evil peeps you just can't bring yourself to hating. Also, snoteleks.

And the ugly:

Borin:
I really don't know what to say, but I've aready been speechless when Daedin rolled this singular dwarf of his, so, I'll try my worst: From the beginning, Borin and Bardin felt .. real .. together. The dorfiest bromance that has ever been, to put it eloquently. There were so many faccets to their relationship, just to try and think of it all once more..-- Not to take away from the other experiences Bardin had, but the RP between Borin and him certainly affected him, and me, the most. Their last exchange will always be branded into my mind.

Quickfingers:
Neither good, nor evil, you're put in with the uglies. Deal with it. Take good care of the twins. Bardin will want to see them, when he's back.

----

So, there goes my first Kudos. Insert the usual shebang for people, who are left out and feel like they shouldn't be, here. I done tried to keep it as short as possible and this should already be enough cheese for a wine sampling. Damnit, even as I'm writing this last sentence, more names pop up in my head. Daltanius, Eldwyn, Carlos, Nande, Ryth, Maeralya.. No! This needs to end at some point and if anything, it goes to show, how greatly everyone contributes to this authentic environment we got here. Besides, you lot still got his final kudos left.

Until then.

Loved all my times with Bardin, and I have to thank you first of all for allowing the Blimths to get situated in Brogendenstein and Arelity as a whole, but for also allowing our last few interactions with our Dwarves to fuel my character going forward into the Bardin/Borin/Gemina-less Unknown. Some nights a had tears in my eyes from the laughter, but Bardin was also a character of depth and heart.

I hope they meet again some day.

Who?

All I have to say is that I had no intention of joinning with Brogendenstein until Borin met Bardin. And that it was a breath of fresh air to see someone roleplaying a dwarf in such a way that I often forgot he was a dwarf, and just saw the person. That takes skill and talent. On top of that, Bardin's not-so-gentle touch was precisely what Brog was needing as a faction.

Now, all of that being said, if you go and ruin the reputation of the orogs, I will kill you.

(Do orogs still have a reputation?)

Bardin is one of the best dwarves I've seen. He's got the taste for ale and battle, rude and threatening but a solid heart for those he might call a friend. Buppi did learn a lot from him, though Bardin never discovered it or realize it while talking about his family. He's been one of those people I never minded running into, and seeing the character in chance interactions was always a good fun time.

But, minus three points for not throwing Buppi into Slush's Trip and for not tickling his pickle. The gravest of insults.

Bardin is cool. Bardin should come and be cool again.
