Assassin's Guild

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Assassin's Guild

Post by Urch »

Create an npc that awards contracts for certain people/monsters. Said persons/monsters are not the ones that traditionally spawn. These ones would spawn in settlements, or specific hideaways. Only the assassin or his/her party is enemy to said target. PC guards and such could treat the killing of an npc within a settlement as a crime, thus opening a font for roleplay.

The target, once killed, drops a unique object (similar to boss head) that is useless everywhere except the Guild. The gold for the hit is only given once this object is turned in.

Taking the contract, the assassin is given a piece of paper with the target's name, and location on. This paper is unneeded for the completion of the hit, save for the information it gives.

The targets could spawn anywhere, and harder targets may have bodyguards.

This is only available for those with neutral or evil alignments. (Any good is refused entry).

This system could also be adapted so that players could use it for bounties on each other, or DMs could use it to easily and subtly set marks on certain individuals or bosses in order to further a particular plot.
For only $1 a day you can sponsor someone with chronic altitis.

Another day, another Doug.
