Some say the purpose is to honor the sacrifices that our veterans have made for the betterment of their country. Some say it's about remembering those who chose to serve the values that America stands for. As an American veteran myself, I can assure you it's about something more...

I was at Keesler and I was on the ground floor on the back side of the building. I only had a roommate for like 6 weeks when I was there so I was sneaking out for cigarettes all the time. It was glorious.

AFROTC Cadet here. Spent the whole day folding flags at events and serving food at the VFW.
No free Applebees for us, though. I mean, I have my CAC and could probably get away with it, but if the det commander caught wind any cadets were trying to get free shit on veterans day, he's chew us out something good.

Former Jar Head here. Rarely do I go out for the free meals on Veterans day, only done it twice. The other time I just happened to be out and after we ate the tab was only her meal. I asked why and they pointed to my Marine Veteran hat,lol. *Face palmed bigger than shit*
