T1 Materials and Lesser runes

Post by CptJonas »

I am only one who doesnt see a point in having T1 runes in game?
Only reasonable thing you can do with them is some rare cases when crafted/looted item can use it....
Looted items will be better then items with T1 rune....Even enchanted gear withow enchanter would be better then it....

I am starting to get full bag of uselles materials. I tend to leave them in chest...even considering to drop them in trash....

Can we get maybe oposite system what we allready have? To make 1 T2 runic material out of many T1? Even in high numbers like 5 or even 10 to 1?

Look, It is mostly FOIG, But..T1 runes go on loads of craftable epic stuff.

Non of it is FOIG...no with test server...
And I can count on my fingers on how many items is used T1 rune...
And this small number dont make sense if you will probably find like atleast 15 T1 runic materials per month...

T1 runes are actually quite useful in some cases. Several craftable items require only a lesser rune to be improved, saving you an expensive 5% roll. Other items can be purchased from NPC merchants, then enchanted and runed on top, netting you an item with +1STR, +2CON, +1 fortitude and +2 Discipline - again with just a lesser rune.

Well...as I said...in some specific cases...yes...you can use them...

Still...even if your character uses them...you will need like 3 at max...not to have enough for 5 people after 2 week of opening chests....
What with them? Rest of them....

I would simply like some option for it...

The +4 shield uses the lowest tier rune. Lantanese rings use the lowest tier rune. the SR helmet uses a lowest tier rune. There's quite a few useful bits of gear with only 2 properties that are worth using one on.

I am repeating myself...but...as you said..there is few pieces of gear where you can slap T1 rune....
But you will never use as many those runes as much as you find them....even if you wanted for some reason to create every single item that could use those runes...you still will be siting on dozens of those small duckers :D

Sell them then? It's unrealistic to think you'll be having personal use for every piece of gear you find but there's likely to be someone else looking for one.

Well....good point....Problem is...they are so common as probably everyone (who is on levels where you would use them) have bunch of them...more then they need....

But even if I put them with low price tag....and stay in middle of city and trying to sell them all day...I dont belive that there will be like atleast 3 guys every day who woul buy it from me...

There is simply big suply and low demand...

T1's have ton of use. The problem is people try to hawk them for 50k when they're probably worth about 10k.

T1s have a lot of utility, even for some endgame gear, and I'm glad they're widely available so that all players can get some experience with the rune system, without having to spend their life savings.

They will always sell, if reasonably priced.

Just throwing this out there, not everyone who can use runes can actually go out and get them, be it because of making a gimped build, or time zone issues so can't party up easily, or very little play time in general. If the price isn't through the roof as most prices are, they will sell.

Certain items like Headband of Protection just beg for T1 rune.

Let's try and list them all out!

This will be a fun exercise for the The Gift of Craftsmanship: Trade Skill Distribution thread.

Forging:
Blackguard's Helmet
Greensteel Armor/Weapon Variants

Carpentry:
Enchanted Shield

Tailoring:
Enchanted Fine Leather Armor
Displacer Beast Armor/Cloak
Lesser Ranger's Studded Leather Armor
Battlemedic's Armor
Spellthief's Armor
Fine Elven Boots

Art Crafting:
Headband of Protection
Crown of Horns Replica
Circlet of Logic

Loot or Purchased from NPC Merchants:
Lantanese Ring
Ring of Ram (no longer available in loot matrix)
Blade of Roses
+2 Uni Save Ring/Amulet
+2 Stat Amulet
Fencing Buckler
Rapier of Luck

Pretty sure I'm not getting everything down here, but the more feedback the better. This way, folks can keep an eye out for any particular items that may be worth keeping and keeping them shops stocked.

It might be that you're fortunate in finding so many of them. I've taken a character all the way to thirty and found precisely no T1 materials - despite having a whole heap of uses for them. As other posters said; if you don't have a use for them, you'll find buyers that do.

I find it adds 15,000 gold to price when a t1 rune is added to headband, if this helps. I suppose that is worth of T1.

That list is excellent!!

Edit: damn didn’t know no more ring of ram, lol.

+2 resist amulets
+2 STR gloves
+2 CHA amulets
+2 CON amulets

Enchanted wood stuff doesn't work with T1, it's artifically inflated like Adamantine is.

Sorry, I should have clarified: The weapons are inflated, the shields are not.

Agreed. One my my chars has found lots of T1 blade runes.

And has used them to make several of these for himself and friends:

Greensteel Weapon
+3 AB
Keen
1d4 elemental dmg.

T1 armor and wood runes are good for Clericss to make stat+pumped armor and shields that they are going to +5 with Magic Vestament anyway.

THIS

Yes, the T1 runes have some niche uses, less so for chars that can enchant the jewelry mentioned above with up to 3-4 enchantments, but have some uses.

This would be a step in the wrong direction. Instead of high tier runecrafting materials being special and prized, they would become an inevitability. Rather than being spread among the community, low tier materials would be jealously hoarded by powerful epics seeking to create the next bloated piece of equipment. This makes perfect sense in a single player game, but not in a community based multiplayer game.

I am speaking about T2 from T1....T3 should still be top and rare...
And about those epics...basicly every player is in epics since writs become a thing...
And noone realy powerfull will not hoard them bcs those guys allready have all runic gear and moust of it from T3

If it would do anything....it would make power gap, between years old characters and new ones, smaller....And thats good thing by me...
