We have message boards/notebooks, could we have a bookshelf fixture that uses the bookbag script? It would be a really cool way to share books within a faction.

I, too, would like to see this. What a great RP tool for bookish types it would be.

Unfortunately that wouldn't work. The script that book bags use (shared with all containers) isn't really suitable for the storage of books and was more intended for simpler items/commodities, which is why it has all the limitations it has. It also lacks the functionality to use it as actual storage outside of an inventory, be it saved as part of a character or in a storage chest of some kind. It's alright for what it does, even though it wasn't really meant for books, but it's not really something on which a persistent fixture can be based. Fortunately it doesn't need to be.

What about introducing craftable bookshelves with persistent, book-only storage?

Awesome, haven't gotten to try it yet, but there's a collection of 247ish books that are going to make use of this right away.
