the Unexpected Dangers of Attunement Potions
Potions of Attunement and the Gates of the Underdark..
Common knowledge: quaffing a potion of attunement generally brings you to the Shadovar trading Post... unless you are in a number of 'other' locations where if you quaff a potion, it puts you literally at the front door of Andunor.
But I have never experienced quaffing a potion of attunement and ending up just outside the gates of Cordor...
Perhaps this is an intentional imbalance or just an oversight... or maybe something I've just not experienced yet.
I am unaware of a resource IG that I can go to learn about where/when/how to navigate using Attunement potions... perhaps the opinion of TBTB is that it needs to be learned first hand...
...however... a low/mid-level character can find themselves in possession of a potion of attunement... and drink it WHILE STANDING IN SOME LOCATIONS -IN- CORDOR... and end up at the Gates of Andunor. For a new player or someone who's never played in the Undardark and has no idea how or where to go to find the nearest portal, this is a death sentence.
Could these things maybe come with a warning label? Or perhaps it might be a good project for some.. oh, I dunno... wizardly type... to author a book IG that can then be added to the library?
If I had time and the resources for such a project, it might be fun... sadly, I have neither atm... but still, I felt it might be worthy of offering this as an opportunity for others to chime in on their own experiences... or to offer some guidance as to where some IG resources to acquire such information may be gained... (or a bug in the ear of the Dev Team who might like to tackle a new NPC with an accompanying conversation tree.)

...Players? Finding an in-character answer instead of just chugging the strange and mysterious potion? I guarantee you that players/characters know these "strange mysteries" because I am a player, and my characters know from experience or asking other characters. The Kriv wrote: Sat Jun 08, 2019 5:04 pm I am unaware of a resource IG that I can go to learn about where/when/how to navigate using Attunement potions... perhaps the opinion of TBTB is that it needs to be learned first hand...

Re: the Unexpected Dangers of Attunement Potions
I think the behavior resulting in teleporting to city gates is a long-standing bug.
Re: the Unexpected Dangers of Attunement Potions
This happened to me at lower level and I made the most of it. With something like an attunement potion, I think people should have a wariness in regard to drinking them. Technically IG you're messing with planar transportation, and if someone wants to or decides to make a book about them awesome, but otherwise, I like it how it is at present. It's a good FOIG thing.

I'm also pretty sure that this is a bug. I hope it gets fixed eventually.
This too shall pass.
(I now have a DM Discord (I hope) It's DM GrumpyCat#7185 but please keep in mind I'm very busy IRL so I can't promise how quick I'll get back to you.)

It might have been a bug originally, but I think its become more of a feature than what it was originally. Think of it as an occupational hazard for downing potions that rip you uncontrollably through the leylines.

It was a bug, not a feature. Please fix.

I'd much rather it send them to a random dangerous planar area then, rather than continue to dump them squarely on the doormat of mordor.sarithia wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2019 9:12 pm This happened to me at lower level and I made the most of it.
