Bookshelves!
Haven't had a chance to try these yet (are they even available, as of this writing?) but this sounds amazing. I'm really excited about the potential of these. Thanks so much!

I think we are still waiting for the next reset of all servers.Subutai wrote: Fri Jul 05, 2019 4:24 am Haven't had a chance to try these yet (are they even available, as of this writing?) but this sounds amazing. I'm really excited about the potential of these. Thanks so much!

Re: Bookshelves!
Did I miss the update where they reinstated -pickup_fixture?
If its still not working, then we will end up with lots of oddly placed bookshelves.

There’s a tear in this old scholar’s eye. I can’t wait to get rolling with this. Thank you!
Re: Bookshelves!
Such an amazing update, the potential is immense.
Personal libraries, i'm looking at you Cassius, you know what i'm talking about!!
Record keeping. Stop notes accumulating on message boards, once one is capped add all those notes to a book, add the book to a bookshelf, start the board fresh (recalling record keeping attempts back in my Cordor Guard days!!). It saves so much space and keeps the history of things on the island in a nice accessible location
If the cap for books in a bookshelf is, say 35 for example, then now we can store 1225 notes on a single bookshelf. No more stacks of message boards piled in a corner to store history and records, no more storage chests dedicated to notebooks (which could only technically store 700 individual notes anyway).
Amazing amazing update, full kudos where they are deserved , great job

Re: Bookshelves!
Loving the Shelves, Finally made one of each. Excellent addition and functionality but comes with a few quirks?
All versions of bookshelves pick up unidentified which is a minor issue, negligible really
But I am heavily confused as to why Nitharit is used in the Smithing Bookshelf recipe instead of something like Iron.
Moreso for Lore reasons than balance issues, Nitharit by its own description says it is a very poisonous if not toxic metal, I'm glad it has more use other than brewing poisons.
But its a bit mean to Poison bookshelves when mages have low fort saves
Great addition, just strange why a toxic metal is used in the smithing recipe, I was hoping for the extra long rounded bookshelves as well but the four models we have are excellent.
now to just find fixture room.

Howling around all year long
Re: Bookshelves!
Because this is a specifically drow/underdark design, we wanted to keep it that way, and rather than restrict the recipe to Underdark races we opted to have it require a resource only found in the Underdark (of which there is really only Nitharit). That way if someone wants those stylish dark shelves they at least have to venture or trade with the Underdark.Mythic wrote: Sat Jul 06, 2019 9:29 am

Still, I like it. As you said it is good to give it another use beyond poisons, and there's a long history of people furnishing their homes with potentially toxic materials (lead?). I'm sure its treated in some way during the process to make it less deadly!
