Stealthed mobs ignore -guard

Post by Tarkus the dog »

Rider's Peak Rav'Ioli Pizzacutters basically always make sure to cut down the squishy guy ( me ) who's strolling behind a tank instead of focusing the guy running in first, even if guard is on. It's a mixture of game taking a round or two to figure that you're on guard, which when it comes to a dual wielding 60 on hit mob ( sneak + death attack ) that will always hit his first flurry in a mid level dungeon is pretty much a death sentence.

I know "just don't approach them" seems like a thing to do but then your tank gets swarmed and you as a squishy dps dude, for example, can't help him out. So either remove guard all together and make my life even more miserable or fix this so that I can go back to relying on -guard, thanks.

The guard can't guard against what he can't see. It sounds like it's working as intended.

Have you tried putting detection buffing spells on your guard? Amplify is a level 1 potionable spell, and clair/Clair at 3 is as well. Both can also be wanded and last longer than the one round stealth break of true seeing, and are cheaper. I suspect in pve they'll usually be sufficient together unless your guard is hearno-seeno melee type.

Its not a mechanical fix, but you can mitigate this largely by having the tank teleport in first, and have them walk to the ramps, so they grab all the aggro. Everything in LoS is going to target the thing closest to them on arrival, so as long as the tank is the first, and closest, thing they see, you should not have this problem.

Additionally, none of the mobs in that area can see through invisibility. I strongly suggest, if this has been an issue, you invest in a stack of invis pots and drink them before zoning in. Sorry I can't make any suggestions besides take advantage of the clunky AI.
