Bottom Line Up Front: Crossing Server borders makes familiars (a 1/day summoning spell) vanish. This affects RP and is annoying. Can you make the familiars persistent across borders like Lassoed creatures or increase the number of times you can summon your familiar in a day.
When crossing between server borders (ie. Cities server into Surface) the game saves the status of your familiar summoning (ie. have you cast it or not) but does not save your active and out familiar. The result is you can summon your familiar in one area, cross an Area Transition into another server (maybe even by accident) and poof the familiar is gone - however the game remembers that you summoned it and so does not let you re-summon it without a rest.
This is a problem because wizards only get to cast it once per day. So on crossing what is essentially an OCC point the familiar vanishes and the wizard has to find a reason to 1) explain where the Rat they were RPing with has gone and 2) Find an excuse to rest to get it back.
I noticed reading the wiki that you have managed to gain persistence for lassoed creatures over server borders, could you not do the same for familiars (its also a problem for normal summoned creatures but much smaller as you can memorize additional castings).
Alternatively could you up the number of castings a day for summoning your familiar - especially as they are more useful for RP than anything combat related?

Re: Familiar Summoning Status
If this is possible to be fixed, then yes, though as I said in another suggestion there is only so much we can do with server transition problems.
