Deep Imaskari Start Problems
The wiki, wording of the relevant update and news articles, and conversations with the NPCs in Myrk-Fælinn all indicate that the Skaldark DI enclave is an optional starting location for newly made Deep Imaskari, with Andunor as another option.
If I do not select Outcast then my only option on the entry door is "Enter Arelith". This whisks me off to a boat on the docks of Skaljard which is. Uh. Really weird. Not only do I not have the option to go straight to the Underferry, but I'm just on a surface human boat in a random village in Bumbleheck Nowhere.
Myrk-Fælinn is supposed to be a one-way portal area for people who leave Deep Imaskari, but this is not the case for newly made Deep Imaskari, which is very strange.
Further, "non-outcast DI" should absolutely be able to choose to start in Andunor, and I thought the entry options were going to be "Andunor" or "Myrk-Fælinn". Instead I'm standing on a pier on the surface, which is really at odds with backstory and with how the module and documentation portrays creating a DI. Having to be an Outcast to start in Andunor as an Underdark-native race is not the case for any other race.
Should I ask a DM to be tp'd to the DI Enclave? Is that not the intention? Is this a mistake?

Re: Deep Imaskari Start Problems
They should not have the outcast option, and they should definitely start in the tower.
I'll ask a dev to look at it, in the meantime ask a DM to port you there.

Re: Deep Imaskari Start Problems
Starting at Skaljard is a bug, but one that can be... bypassed for a lack of a better word. You have to create your character while connected to the "Distant Shores" server, doing that will start you at your intended spawn location. If you create the Imaskari on any other server, you will be automatically brought to the Distant Shores (As intended), but the server neglects to put you in the Imaskari Tower. It just puts you at the entry point to Distant Shores, wich happens to be the docks of Skaljard. I guess the script just does not trigger correctly, since it sees the new character as one, that has merely "entered" the distant shores server and not a newly created Imaskari the script is looking for. Since the character has no set location there, it just defaults to doing the same thing it would do with a character entering the distant shores while the server they "Currently are" on is down. Every Imaskari should get "flagged" (not sure if it is the right term) to get ported to the Tower as soon as they enter Distant Shores, then get the "flag" removed when speaking to the Imaskari NPC, so they don't get taken away when going to Sibayad or sth.
@Irongron Maybe add a temporary solution of adding "Please start at Distant Shores" to the race description when picking it from the reward menu while the problem gets looked at? It might be the reason there are so few Imaskari, since the Skal start didn't even allow them to take writs (certainly an another bug with them, not sure if it got fixed already).

Aha. I should note, I created them on C&P. That being said there should still be options of Skaldark or Andunor, not merely 'Enter Arelith'. I'll poke a DM.

Re: Deep Imaskari Start Problems
I can confirm that as of January a DI can't take writs on Skal (I shelved mine waiting for some resolution on that but have been checking in occasionally.)
I think (and hope) DI on Skal and the Skaldark in general is a work in progress with more to come, there could be potential but right now it's not really doable especially without writs. I personally would love to see writs in the enclave based around exploring the area and possibly even allow that as a starting point for deep gnomes and UD races who've taken the "good" reward.

Re: Deep Imaskari Start Problems
As of January? I reported this about a month ago and it was fixed within two days. Deep Imaskari can now take Skal writs.
Re: Deep Imaskari Start Problems
A month ago was January!
I'll check it again, thanks. That had been the case since the DI enclave was added a year ago-ish and I know I and others reported it many times, good to know it got some attention.

@Kuma Once you get into the Tower you are actually presented with that choice. In the Tower there is a portal, that leads to the vilage above and also a ferry that takes you to Greyport, wich obviously not too far from the Hub. Both are one-way, so don't just run into the portal to check it out. As for picking the right one... Go with Greyport. As much as I love Skal, no writs is just too much for me and, I assume, most players as well. You do not get any tags when taking the ferry, so you are free to wander the surface afterwards, just like a svirf.
Yep. Starting and staying at the Tower as an Imaskari is a big no-no. The surrounding areas are just too difficult and more importantly - empty. I made the trip to it on an actual lvled up Imaskari and there was just nothing interesting there (save for a weak, but unique set of armor for sale), only a few writings at the local message board from the few players who decided to get quarters there. Not sure on the other races idea, since that place is for Imaskari for a reason... Not sure if it is FoiG, so a reason I will not name here, wich makes it all the more disappointing, that it is so empty.Wuthering wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2020 9:47 pm I think (and hope) DI on Skal and the Skaldark in general is a work in progress with more to come, there could be potential but right now it's not really doable especially without writs. @EDIT nevermind about the writs, as some people just pointed out... while I was writing this post. Feel free to go with Skal and see how the locals react to you summoning creatures from the UD
