Improved Invisibility bug

Post by Wuthering »

Is something up with improved invisibility? The turns of conceal you are supposed to get after invis fades don't seem reliable. Tested on an assassin, a mage, cleric in many different situations. I think perhaps darkness or some other concealment effect cancels it, maybe?

Are you fighting monsters who cast invisibility purge?

I know how it works, there is no invisibility purge happening, it occurs at all levels and many different areas. Improved Invisibility's concealment effect doesn't linger after the invisibility itself goes away- this happens maybe 1 of 3 times I use it.

So. This has something to do with Beamdog's update on Wands and Scrolls according to another thread I read recently. It is something as follows.

If you were to rest and use a Scroll it would work from your Character Levels, a Wand as well and then cast a spell it seems to change the way your Caster Level is calculated. If you used a spell and then the Wand / Scroll it changes the way your Character Level is calculated.

I've experienced the issue lately on a trickery domain cleric, an assassin and a mage, none using wands. The assassin of course can just re-apply as often as they want, the other two are using spells. I don't think this has to do with dispelling or invisibility purge unless those spells are extremely common among different mobs -and- don't show up in combat logs.

I had thought it was a bug having to do with entering and leaving darkness as that commonly seemed to cause it but it happens when I am not under the darkness effect.

It's interesting no one else has experienced this. I wonder what I am doing differently if anything. But I do know an Improved Invisibility's concealment should last for turns/level and when cast on either epic caster it should not be gone in a couple of turns. Sometimes it doesn't even seem to work at all.

I've had it happen on my assassin recently twice now. The first time I thought I must have forgotten to reapply but the second time I scrolled up on the combat log and saw it was something odd and there were no encounters with mobs in-between, just some normal zone transitions (no server changing stuff).

The majority of times it works fine though and with only 2 occurrances I can't link it to any one thing. I've had it work fine with darkness, wands, potions, visage, etc the vast majority of times.
