Brew Potion and Mundane Herbalists

Post by Quidix »

I really like how Brew Potion now also provides benefits to potion crafting for Herbalist and Alchemists.

My one thought is that Brew Potion requires spell casting to take as a feat, and this mean mundane potion makers cannot take the feat. Could it be considered to lift the spellcasting requirements for the the Brew Potion feat?

Is there a way for a commoner, who is barred from multiclassing, to get the Brew Potion feat?

To what end? The feat enables you to put your level 3 or lower spells in a bottle. If you don't have spells what benefit does the feat give?

It produces 1.5 times more potions for herbalists.

Example:
A character without the Brew Potion feat would make 2 heal potions per craft.
A character with the Brew Potion feat would make 3 heal potions per craft.

Also I'd love to see the mundanes being able to take this feat for thematic purposes and mechanical advantages as well, for as long as the build can spare it.

For you, the day Kenji overhauled your class was the most important day of your life.
But for me, it was Tuesday. :face_with_monocle: To-do list

It lets herbalists brew more potions at the same price. In addition to the spellcasting thing.

I actually suggested this when the change was first made to create more crafted potions. It would also be nice if brew potion then added a magical or mundane dweomer tier as well. It would give mundane players an alternative option for getting to tier 3 if that is party of their build goal.

An alternative feat could be introduced. "Master Brewer" or something like that, which would have same effect as brew potion for herbalists, but wouldn't stack with it. I mean we already have "Improved Dweomercrafting".

Just make the feat able to be taken by anyone.

It's an inexplicable advantage and makes mundane potion crafters literally inferior.

also it means: not needing to make a new feat or messing with anything.

There is not, and this is one of my issues with it.

This absolutely remains a dream for my commoner.

However, I noticed the initial implementation for Brew Potion was done by the great yellowcateyes (a wonderful change), and given his / her retirement I suspect any change is unlikely?

Someone thought of the idea of granting Brew Potion alongside SF: Craft Mastery (Or ESF: Craft Mastery) - that seems like a neat option to me as well.

Maybe tie it to ranks in Herbalism?

Brew potion is being changed to a general feat and should be going live sometime soon(ish).

Will this also add a tier to Mundane Dweomercrafting?

This would be great on one hand; hells, I'd pick it on my ol' shelved Kensai cot instead of 1 Craft Mastery feat or 10 skill points... but that's also problematic because then people would be like "Hmm I'm not a herbalist... yet... and I dont cast any spells... yet... but I will pick it anyway because it does the same thing as Craft Mastery but more so w/e" which is weird. But just seeing it as a general feat for any character to pick without any requirements or at least without spell casting related requirements, that's already awesome.

I'm not changing it for dweomercraft, I'm just removing the requirements to take it. It will still add a magic tier as before.
