New area design - slopes.

Post by Void »

I'm not sure if this is widely known or not, but slopes break mage ground targeting.

Basically, when attempting to target ground with even slightest height difference, the character will fail to aim at that spot, and instead will try to reach the targeted spot and then will attempt to fire the spell at point blank range, no matter what that spell is. With higher height difference, there's another issue and that is "you cannot target a creature withotu line of sight".

This is an old problem, but most areas in the modules do not have many subtle height changes, and therefore manageable.

In new tileset, there's a cascade of subtle bumps, raised and lowered terrain, and that makes targeting difficult. Even the "slightly raised bridge" placeable has a small raise on it, meaning the mage cannot target bridge while stnading on the shore the bridge is connected to, and will instead try to suicide by rushing to the bridge spot.

Would be nice if this was taken into account.

The area around "future city of guldorand" is full of small slopes like this, if something starts spawning there it will be nightmare to deal with.
Another forum ban, here we go again.
