Putting this here so I don't forget.
It's been mentioned that bleed effects (such as on arrows) kill players even when the attacker is in subdual mode.
Subdual doesn't work w/bleed

I think this sounds like more of a feature than a bug - it doesn't make terribly much sense that you can pull your blows and keep someone from dying when your fighting style involves causing runaway blood loss.
what would fred rogers do?

You can't not-bleed someone to death if they're bleeding so much that they're going to die?
