Racial Type Not Showing Correct Sub Race

Post by SteelsSweets »

Ran into a drow the other day and their racial type said elf on examine. They were not trying to disguise.

After speaking to other players it seems that the sub race will not show correctly unless the examiner is of the same race.

That seems like a bug to me.

Not a bug. To identify a Drow elf as such instead of just the generic 'Elf,' whether they're disguised or not, you need to:
1. Be another Drow.
OR
2. Be a surface elf with Lore greater than or equal to 20.
OR
3. Have Elves as a Favored Enemy with combined Lore + Ranger levels greater than or equal to 20.

The above logic follows parallel for identifying Duergar, with the corresponding racial types switched from Elf to Dwarf.

Done.

Description
==========
It is being reported that duergar are NOT being treated as outlined above and are treated like every other (sub)race when examined.

Steps to reproduce
----------------------------
As a kobold examine a drow and duergar

Expected result
-----------------------
Sees a drow as elf and duergar as dwarf

Actual result
-------------------
Drow appears as an elf, duergar appears as a duergar

Note(s)
-------------------
Less helpful that other people not Kobolds are reporting the same behavior and were surprised to note it should behave the same as drow. Expecting it's the same across the board instead of something unique to kobolds.
