Moving Certain Paths to Proper Classes

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
    Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Hello!

For the long while I've played on Arelith there have been a bunch of amazing subclasses that have really expanded the way that NwN can be played, and increase the replayability of the Server. Spellsword was my first real delve into paths, and I've had a lot of fun with it on one of my characters, and while I don't play it myself, I hear that Warlock can be very fun to play, not only mechanically, but Roleplay wise for obvious reasons.

However, I have heard a constant complaint from players of these subclasses, that mechanically they're a bit shafted. An example I can give is Spellsword sicne I've played it a bit: but the way the extra AB, offhand AC, and so forth is handled through a post level up is a little rough, or as a spare bonus.

I'd like to see some of these classes broken out into proper classes if able, and the Paths they are currently just closed off, like Weavemasters and Favored Souls are, so that we are not forcing everyone who are those classes to remake fully and lose their stuff.

We've added a few classes over the past three years that I've been on and off, so we know that it's possible to create the new classes, and some of these classes are unique enough that I think they warrant a proper class dedicated to them as opposed to a Path that is mechanically rough around the edges.

This really only matters for Spellsword and Warlock as far as I know!

Denied, not because we're not doing it, but just to not clutter the approved suggestions. We are planning to do this eventually(tm), but it is not very high priority. There are still some issues with new classes and scrolls, so I would not expect it in the near future.
