Remove the fish-skin for weapons

Post by Seekeepeek »

Hey

I think it's the club that make you able to walk around with a fish in your hand?
i have mostly seen it used for silliness, so i figured it would be good to remove it.
i respect i may be alone in disliking this, but now since we have HAKs i figured it's possible to remove it?

It sucks. There's some like, baton and wand skins in the vault somewhere, maybe swap those into it's place.

While we're at it, can we remove the freaking tree model from the great club? Hideous.

If I've even seen a single fishermen RPing with that stupid fish club, I'd be inclined to disagree, but I haven't. Never once have I seen someone wielding a fish for any reason other than it being a prop for an overly done joke. Yes, you slapped someone with a fish, good for you, now that we've gotten the joke out of our system lets trash that model.

First they came for the dual-katanas but I didn't speak up because I didn't dual wield katanas.

Then they came for the fish model but I didn't speak up because I didn't use clubs.

What will they go for next!? Halflings?

Hands off from our fishes. Those overserious players who want to take away fish are most likely those who got beaten by the fish.
Fishes are great RP tool amongst the goblins and other monstrous races. Let us keep our silly awesome stuff. None is forcing you to wield the power of fish.

I also love dire rat option with the light flails. In fact we should put more fishes, rats and other silly stuff as outlook options for different weapons.

i know some players that always walk around with a fish, its part of there look and rp.

Think it would be a shame to suddenly take that away from them.

More silly crap takes away from immersion, it doesn't add to it. Which is the real argument behind getting rid of fish weapons. Silly crap for the sake of being silly. Therefore it has to go.

I have to admit I dont remember seeing the fish used in a way that made any sense to me but I'd give them the benefit of the doubt that it might not be just for silliness and that there are plenty of things about their character which I dont know. Between the option of having an equip able fish in the module and not having it, I see no reason why not having it. The whole point is that it looks silly before enough interaction with that character.

This sums it up to me, not that it can't be used in a way that is more appropriate, just that in general it isn't. It's like everyone that sees that model has the same idea, they decide that beating someone to death with a +3 Fish Carcass is too funny to pass up.

Personally really not a fan of it. I find it jarringly for OOC amusement.

Would it be possible to make wieldable fish (and other items) that aren't weapons? If it's just something you could hold for RP purposes I'd love to see it stay, I've seen it used to good effect by goblin and derro and other crazies, but it does induce eye-rolling when it's a human woman from Cordor being wacky.

Likewise.

I'm a ridiculous memer, but I prefer to keep it out of game. Humor is wonderful in the right doses, but when that's the only thing there, it takes a lot of the immersion or fun out of the game.

I have never seen fish used for any reason other then a big fish slapping meme fight for the sake of having a fish slapping meme fight. Which happens a lot. It gets so old.

Fun is all well and good, but Andunor was starting to feel like Guardians of the Galaxy movie in the months before my hiatus, and from what I've seen otherwise, it hasn't changed.

Maybe respect that some people would enjoy a setting that's allowed to be a little serious and isn't interrupted every thirty minutes with flinging fish around for no reason. As Morgy said, it's very jarringly done because of OOC amusement.

But also, if a character insists on being silly and not taken seriously, they should make sure to be prepared to be treated as silly and not to be taken seriously, because no one ever will.

I exist to describe the world around us.

Akorae - Traveling to find happiness.
Yrsa Hakondottir - returned to Ruathym
Xifali'ae - sleeping with the fishies
Keth'ym Evanara - wandering better paths
Veriel Xyrdan - married and happy
Reena Welkins - dead

I'd say leave the fish. If people don't like people using them then give the wielders IC consequences to doing so as said above.

Adding on top of this: if it's so frequently used for breaking OOC gags either ask the players directly to limit its usage or report it to the DM team. Ideally both.
