Great Magic Weapon is useless

The title says it all...

Usually this spell would be useful as it adds up to +5 bonuses to a weapon. But thing is...i played a priest from the start and didn`t take long for me to get a weapon with an enhancement. And the first enhancement you get as a new player already is better than when you get this spell.

Furthermore the higher level you get...the better the weapon you have...and all weapons i get have enchancements like extra magic damage or keen or whatever. Even if i have no magic on the weapon the weapon i craft or buy cheaply are better than the enhancements this spell grants.

I can understand this spell not stacking with other improvements of + bonus. But it dont work with anything. If i get a steel weapon it is not useful on that weapon anymore. And it seems forced.


So here is my sugestion. Allow the bonus to be added to the weapon but not to stack. If i get a +3 weapon and use the spell on it at lvl 15+ it should go to +5 not +8. And there the spell comes back to be useful.

Just because you can't find a good use for it doesn't mean it isn't useful. It allows you to pierce DR, and it gets a higher AB than you would get with even the best craft-able weapons. GMW is very strong as is and will not be changing. Denied.
