Spellbook Modification for Spontaneous Casters

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Spellbook Modification for Spontaneous Casters

Post by The Rambling Midget »

Introduce a mechanic to allow spontaneous casters to alter their spellbook without having to relevel.

Especially with less experienced players, it happens that sometimes you pick a spell you thought you'd use, but you don't. Sometimes your RP changes, or the Devs update a spell, and you realize you'd like to try something else. If you're still leveling, you may be able to change your spellbook selections, but if you're already level 30, or you're past your caster levels on a multiclass build, it's too late.

Limitations should be put in place so that sorcerers don't end up with the same adaptability as wizards. It definitely shouldn't be a regular on rest thing, but rather a gradual means of adjusting to suit a developing character.

Denied. You have 27-30 chances to sort out your spell-book.
