Server Revert: Inventory Items Gone

I'm sure my character isn't the only one who lost a lot of inventory items after the server-revert today.

Believe it was a purposeful rollback. Definitely eats rocks, though.

Unfortunately, that's the name of the game. If the 2hr rollback could have been avoided or even shortened at all, it absolutely would have, but every character who was online in that two hour window will have been reverted back to the beginning of it - whether they lost or gained anything out of it.

Definitely definitely sucks and we hate being forced to do it and try to avoid it at all costs (plus we hate being eating it player-side too!), but you'll catch up quick- thanks for hanging in there!

So I get why this can be necessary and all. However, not rolling back bank accounts and shop inventories is a real blow.

I had painstakingly save 5k on my new character to buy a simple powerful longbow. Given the nerfs on gold, this was no easy task I had even overdrawn my bank account by 800 to buy it. I was very excited.

And then poof, my bow is gone but here I am sitting on 800 dollars in debt at level 4. It is really frustrating.

In the space of that rollback, I had withdrawn 22,000 and 140,000 from my account, and had dweomercrafted an item worth about 30,000.
I am in no position to provide proof, that would reside in whatever database logs cover the bank accounts. Of course I cannot then prove that I did not give that money to a third party, to put into their account and game the rollback. So I presume it is impossible to prove losses and that we must just accept them?

I don't have access to or power over the rollback process, and I don't want to give you bad information - my understanding here is that it's "when bad things happen to good adventurers" but I'm still leaving this thread open if any higher powers can weigh in with additional insight.

Like I said, rollbacks really suck. We do our absolute most not to put folks through it. I don't expect anything is recoverable by dint of the rollback process. But like I said, I'll leave this thread open in the hopes maybe I can be corrected (though I suspect I won't be, honestly).

Come to think of it, was there any way we could have known a rollback was coming? I assume not, else it could have been widely exploited.

Character files were only impacted; stuff like your bank / shops are not tied to your character file. They are tied to the database.

People were warned as best as we could that a rollback as in place - this was a result of unexpected change that impacted a lot of players with the ability to use documents that had a special on-use function (ie. notes, writs). We had then reverted it and patched an exploit through other means, but it had not corrected these characters. The only solution was to roll the characters back, which was by two hours.

If you feel you have lost money from your bank and it has gone to the void, PM me privately and I will consult the database to verify the claims and make adjustments as needed.
