Cannot log in to server

Since yesterday (sunday 4/7/21), i cannot log in to the server.
Earlier today, i was able to log in once, though, but it was extremely laggy.
My brother doesn't have this problem at all however,
and i can see people online, when looking at the server lists.

When i try to log in, the usual message window pops up:

"Attempting to find server.
Server found. Attempting to log in."

Then, the game sometimes does nothing at all,
the game doesn't freeze, but the message window doesn't change,
and other times, after about 5 seconds, these 2 lines are followed by:

"Connection to server has failed.
Connection error: Server is not responding
(timed out). "

Can anyone please help, because now i can't play..
(at least not properly/very laggy, and only seemingly at random times)
i suspect it has something to do with my internet, but i'm not sure..
It's getting extremely frustrating, since i could lose everything,
if i can't log in.. (both my quarter and my shop..)

Hey,
I am sorry you are having issues with logging in to the server. Could you clarify a few things please?

- You and your brother use the same internet and he is able to connect to the server while you don't right?
- Have you made any changes in your network configuration/firewall recently?
- Have you intstalled any anti-virus software recently?

We usually don't use the same internet, we don't live in the same house,
but occasionally, and recently (about a week ago), i did go visit my brother for an all-nighter of nwn.
I was able to log in perfectly fine the day before these connection problems started, days after i went to visit my bro.

I did have trouble last week though, where my game crashed at almost every area transition,
i managed to fix this problem by reverting to an older nwn version. (trough steam)
The next day is when the connection problems started, so this could be relevant?

I've been having all kinds of problems with nwn since the nwn updates in may,
and every time i manage to fix one problem, another one arises from the ashes..
Just now i managed to log in again, i tried this "trick" i found on a steam forum thread, namely;
logging in to arelith, cancel as it loads, logging in to another server, logging out, and then log in arelith again.
It doesn't seems to work consistently though, i'm trying again in a bit, to see if it still works.
When im online its still very laggy though, a huge lag spike every few seconds..

To answer your questions, in short;
-Yes, my bro can log in, but i can't, he does have a much better computer though. (i use a laptop)
-i didn't change any network/firewall settings, unless changing locations does this on it's own somehow
-i haven't installed any anti virus recently

Quick update:
So, i managed to log in a few more times, using that "trick" i described above,
Apparently, i now can't transition from one server to the next,
the game simply just logs me out, and gives me the same "timed out" message.

I managed to fix these connection issues.
Apparently the problem was with my modem,
which i had ruled out since my internet worked just fine, outside of nwn.
Reseting my modem seemingly fixes this problem,
i'm still testing to see if it keeps working properly, but so far, it does.
