Description:
Magic damage portion of Elemental Eldritch blasts seems to be have a weird calculation. I have noticed it since Lv7 on my Feylock but now at Lv12 it just feels like there is something off. The Magic damage portion rarely reaches double digits and sometimes even does not trigger at all or gives just 1 damage (this has happened with all enemies so far for me, so I am considering DR to not be the culprit, unless every enemy has some magic DR). Lv12 -> 6d6 EB damage for a max of 36. Only times I reach 30s is with crits and even then just barely. Non crits maybe reach to 24. The Elemental damage 'seems' fine and as stated the Magic damage is the weird part. It should be 3d6 (or 6d3) Magic damage but I can count on one hand the times it was a 10 or higher on a non crit. That is in over several hundreds of EBs during playing/testing.
Of course my Luck could be just atrocious, but it just seems too unlikely. Would appreciate some input from maybe others aswell about their experience with the Magic damage half. Not sure where to put this Thread, sorry in advance if it's is not suited for this section.
Additional Information:
-Using the standard Eldritch Blast, no Shapes applied.
-No Eldritch Mastery

Re: Eldritch Blast Damage (Bug?)
On average, without any Eldritch Mastery feats, you'll be hitting 21 (6 x 3.5). Technically it gets rounded down since there are no half rolls, so it's 18 damage on average.
24 or higher damage happens roughly 33% of the time (excluding crits).

Re: Eldritch Blast Damage (Bug?)
The separation into magic and elemental damage happens after the actual damage is rolled, so in order to create some varying numbers I'm subtracting 1d4 from the magic part and adding 1d4 to the elemental part. At lower levels this will sometimes lower magic damage to zero. Also note that if a target dies after just the elemental damage was applied, you won't see the magic damage in the combat log anymore (since there's no living target to apply it to)Deswe wrote: Tue Oct 12, 2021 3:55 pm Description:
