I'm a little confused by what you're describing. Bags - even magic ones - do get heavier when you load them with materials. The magic ones only reduce the amount by which they get heavier. If you put all of your wood into a non magical mining bag, your total carry weight should end up roughly the same.

Can you post screenshots of the weight changes you're seeing, both for your inventory and the mining bag?

Sometimes the bag weight is miscalculated when you put in a very large amount of material all at once. You can fix this by taking out any single unit of material inside and re-adding it.

This is a limitation of the game and how it manages the setting of weight.
I am looking at a method of bypassing it but it will not be perfect or consistent, which is why I have not included it yet.

I am now looking to implement a minor fix that will hopefully reduce the weight fluctuation to about 2-3 units, down from 5.
