When using elemental strike it seems to take other elemental damage from the blade and either remove it or convert it to the damage of the elemental strike(uncertain which). I'm also not certain if it is specific to sonic damage or all elemental types. Positive and divine seem unaffected.
Steps to reproduce the Bug:
Using a weapon with an elemental damage permanent essence on it(sonic). Elemental strike and the sonic damage disappears.
Expected Result:
Sonic damage to work
Actual Result:
Sonic damage disappears
