Ward Teleport duration after the Time Update

Post by False Nibble »

Ward Teleport seems to last too long (RL hours), likely due to how the Time Update affected its duration.

If the duration is 10 game hours, it likely got boosted from 60 RL minutes to 200 after the update.

Considering I have found no way to dispel my own effect (resting included), and how one could block access to any portal on the server for what seems like forever, I imagine this is not intended?

Might be worth looking into it to adjust its duration or provide a way to remove the effect.

Thanks for your time.

It doesn't last the entire time you see the visual graphic up. The graphic never goes away, but the warding effect fades as far as I'm aware. Unless we're mistaken due to the OTHER bug that was impacting warding when this started happened, where scry wards were straight up not working half the time.

I think you're talking of the regular -ward, as -ward teleport does not leave any visual indication that it's up, it only removes the [Teleport] tag from the area, making teleporting in and out of it impossible.

As far as I've tested the effect remains active even after over two RL hours.

No, -ward teleport gives an actual indication when it is and is not effective by leaving a combat log message.

And you tested -ward actually stays active for 2+ hours? For me and my friends it WASN'T working even though the graphic was up, but like I said, there was an issue that started around the same time as the time change, where -ward wasn't blocking scrying. It's possible we were hit by that bug instead and mis-attributed it to the spell duration finishing but the visual being there.

Yeah, the combat log message comes up fine. I don't know what the 'visual graphic that never goes away' that you mention is, if it's related to -ward teleport.

I haven't tested anything on the regular -ward.

I just tested -ward teleport again and the effect faded after around 3 RL hours.

OH, I'm sorry, I didn't read that the title said ward TELEPORT. I was talking about just regular -ward. I'm sorry, I should read better!

Not sure if related to this issue, but ive noticed people warding places like RDI and then not being able to port in for a number of hours while the ward seemingly remains in place. I just assumed it was a way for some people to lock others out of grind spots when addy is spawning

That do sound like being the case.. one could still use the boat then?

Dormant Character: Tabitha Fuzzypaw - Shelved, searching all corners for treasures and secrets.
Misty Scrollsinger - Still searching answers, but is now elsewhere

Rolled Character: Björn Njald - sailed on new adventures
