Re: Official Discord Should Have Dedicated PvP Channels
I dont go to vc channels here, but vc is now a huge part of just about every other multiplayer gaming environment setting besides an NwN RP server. I empathize with stated reasons why Arelith should be a "no vc island" but it seems a bit quixotic at the same time. Splitting hairs to the extent that the vc was fine up to the point PvP happened doesn't seem destined for success either.

Precisely that, winning above all else..Amateur Hour wrote: Wed Mar 23, 2022 5:35 pmIt's for mechanical advantage, plain and simple. It's obnoxious and mean-spirited, but people who want mechanical advantage will do what it takes to get it.ImWithThisGuy wrote: Wed Mar 23, 2022 4:01 pm I really don't understand why any of our players would consider joining a voice call with the intent to gain PVP advantage. I don't know how often it really happens, but even the thought of it happening once leaves a vile taste in my mouth.
Being childish, have to be number 1, winning respect by its piers, throws away decency, trashing rules, careless of "be nice rule"
Dormant Character: Tabitha Fuzzypaw - Shelved, searching all corners for treasures and secrets.
Misty Scrollsinger - Still searching answers, but is now elsewhere

Re: Official Discord Should Have Dedicated PvP Channels
This is absurd. Arelith shouldn't be required to babysit players anymore than they already have to, and this suggestion feels like you want the team to treat players like children. If you're in a voicechat with people metagaming, record it and report it.
If you are so invested in your character winning that you want the already overworked team to police people talking to their friends, you should probably take a break and/or seek therapy.

VC takes away from most people's ability to roleplay, which is the entire point of the server. The server is about a text medium where stories are told on top of a video game. The only point of VC is to metagame or chitchat; the video game is not some deep game where you need to be on the cutting edge and use everything at your disposal to "win".TurningLeaf wrote: Thu Mar 24, 2022 7:57 amSplitting hairs to the extent that the vc was fine up to the point PvP happened doesn't seem destined for success either.
"Chitchat" is fine if it doesn't take away your ability to roleplay (the primary focus of this world). Using VC to metagame is impossible to police but also not necessary to play this game and people should consider it the same as sending a tell to say "kill bob, he's a max level healer"
Katernin Bersk, Chancellor of Divination; Kerri Amblecrown, Paladin of Milil; Xull'kacha Auvry'rae, Redcap Fey-pacted; Sadia yr Thuravya el Bhirax, Priestess of Umberlee; Lissa Whitehorn, Archmage of Artifice

Arelith PvP is like playing basketball against a bunch of ten-year-olds. Using VC for Arelith PvP is like shoving those kids into the wall, excessive and embarrassing and indicative of your makeup as a human. Sad, sad and sad.
VC for chitchat was something I tried years ago for a short time but found that I don't like the way it makes me interact with the game. I am half there and half in the chat. My role play suffers. I had to ask myself "why am I here, playing this game" and the answer was (as corny as it is) to tell stories.
If I want a test of my skill or to compete, then I play dota or do any other thing that is made for such high levels of try hard.
