Re: Warlocks
For FL warlock, maybe 1d4 on the blast per caster level that maxes at 15CL? Keep the spell progression as is?
Edit: Maybe 9-10CL is a better cap, keeps true flames at the top of the 'BLOW THINGS UP DAMAGE' chain but still relatively okay damage.

Re: Warlocks
Oh A clarification question about dispels vs SR. Mith, did you mean ANY SR will make dispel not actually dispel (but will still do damage), or that SR will cause a roll to resist being Dispelled as where it didn't before??

Re: Warlocks
Wait, found the Actual topic on this. So any SR means you won't be effected by the dispel line of spells but you will still do damage via the warlock ability right?

Re: Warlocks
No, if the warlock fails her SR roll she does no damage.

Re: Warlocks
To make sure I understand,
1. dispel is cast
2. target has SR so dispell effect will not happen no roll to check
3. a SR roll will happen to determine if damage is done.
Correct?

Re: Warlocks
My suggestion above would remove the Warlock Progression feat you are able to take as a warlock, and instead tie it all in to CL, btw.
I'd only wonder about people being refunded on FL if it was actually changed like that, or if they could get it all switched over or something.

Re: Warlocks
Are there any higher level warlocks that would/could comment upon the effectiveness of summons (the later ones)?
My experience with summons is they're fairly abysmal, especially later ones, and I'm cautious about being optimistic here...

My (currently) level 7 fiend warlock has been grinding places meant for a character of twice his level with the worg and the imp. The new warlock summons rock.

Yeah, but old summons. Especially back when the servers weren't running so smoothly.Hunter548 wrote:Wtf.Realoms wrote:My experience with summons is they're fairly abysmal
Half of the time, they did absolutely nothing, and the other half, they sucked at everything.

Re: Warlocks
Summons are still slightly clunky as fair as the AI. you may have to tell them to do something a few times but as far as effectiveness. They are doing quite well especially after getting a few buffs from allies or spare wands.

Re: Warlocks
Sorry, I should have clarified that I am asking about the new summons- due to experience with the old ones being abysmal and not worth using.
The worg and imp are awesome yeah, I just want to know whether it stays good (because old summons were also good for low levels) or drops off after those early levels.
But thank you Preacher!

I have seen the balor and I can say.... It's pretty nuts.

Correct?
1. Dispel is cast at a single target.
2. Target has SR, so an SR check was made.
3. If SR check is successful, (if warlock, damage is done and) dispel effect happens.
4. If SR check is unsuccessful, nothing happens.
5. If dispel is cast at the floor, it has the ususal chance to remove one effect from everything in the area without an SR check. It's only if you go for the single target version to strip multiple effects that SR can kick in.

Re: Warlocks
The balor can easily defeat high level spawns. The Balor Lord must only be stronger. The Greater Vrock is only marginally less powerful than the Balor, but less durable.Mindcraft wrote:I have seen the balor and I can say.... It's pretty nuts.

I won't go into detail but I can certainly confirm this. All the summons are pretty beast, really.God In Action wrote:The balor can easily defeat high level spawns. Re: Warlocks
Thanks! That does remove the one worry about fiends. (I have no experience with the higher end summons yet, simply the old summons- which sucked.) I appreciate the thoughts.
Re: Warlocks
Since warlock blasts can crit, and the ranged touch attack is affected by the weapon's attack bonus... Does the weapon's crit rate or multiplier affect the blast?
Re: Warlocks
Touch attacks are all 20/x2, for crits.

Re: Warlocks
I'm relatively certain while it's possible for them to get a natural 20 they can't actually crit. That's the way it used to be at the very least.Bragnir wrote:Since warlock blasts can crit, and the ranged touch attack is affected by the weapon's attack bonus... Re: Warlocks
Used to be. Somewhere in this thread, Mithreas explained how he changed that.

Re: Warlocks
I have noticed an actual critical once, doing nearly 100 damage. But I've also noticed a couple of times that a critical hit has been scored, but normal damage has been applied.
