Warlock blast shapes ar prereqs

Having had a grat deal of fun on a summoner warlock I wanted to try out a more blaster type of warlock, and thought it would be less pact-feat starved than the summoner. That was until I discovered that the greater and epic eldricht blast feats require blast shape feats, which again you need both versions of to trigger epic pact blast effects.

This made me wonder if it is an intentional feat tax or not? If it's not, then it would be great to use those two pact feats for something else, should one be happy with single target blasts.

It is an intentional feat tax, since otherwise certain pacts could get Epic Eldritch Summons with full blast damage.

Could then perhaps Greater/Epic eldricht summon preclude the second and third tier blast feats, and vice verca?

It could, but unfortunately that'd require a janky workaround and make the 2da setup kinda annoying to deal with, so I'd be reluctant to do it.

Fair enough, it is only a minor thing. Blastlock is still a lot of fun!
