It and the exit portal from the Temple of Malar are just meat grinder design.
I get it, Arelith is a power build PvP arena, where I should have instead of RPing up to 30 have grinded out gear, done dips, dump stat CHA, other 'get gud' sophistry, etc, etc, to mitigate this. But really no, transition ambushes are just bad design.
Transition ambushes by NPCs shouldn't exist.

This is a hard thing to deal with and attempts have been made to fix this. It sucks if it happens, but there are also other option, that have nothing to do with your ranting, that you can use to deal with this.
