Dockmasters recognizing Pirates

Post by BattleDrake »

Is there a way this could be changed to a bluff/perform check? It's very odd that a dockmaster can spot you through disguise, even when no one else can. I also think this leads to cheesy, talk to this person and prove you're not a pirate, kinda rp.

Do you mean they auto know your a scummy pirate instantly when you use the conversation or they just beat your disguise/cover roll.

The other NPCs associated with sailing could probably use some bluff/persuade check mechanics. For example, I find it utterly hilarious that the smugglers have a more accurate ability to detect evil than any paladin.

Rolled: Solveigh Arnimayne, "Anna Locksley"
Shelved: Maethiel Tyireale'ala, Lalaith Durothil
Current: Ynge Redbeard, ???

Wow, if someone is actually saying "talk to this NPC and prove you're not a pirate," report it. The team tries to crack down on stuff like that and prevent mechanics metagaming.

Of course this can be done. I'm not writing a report about it happening though, only that it could happen. And for the possible removing of the ability for it to ever happen in the first place.

Ok, but then also add the ability to bluff to do pirate stuff. Why wouldn’t this go both ways?

RP only starts at 30 if you're a coward.

You don't need bluff to do pirate stuff though. You just, go pirate a ship. You're a pirate. And the dockmasters don't do anything against you.

It's only when you get ink, that suddenly the dockmasters are angry. And I think a disguise should prevent that, given that their dialogue is something like "I've heard of your reputation, I don't deal with Pirate scum like you".

I wonder if there's any feedback regarding this? A plan to change this, or dismissed?

You already can.

Ive bluffed my way through FOIG npc to get to sencliff very easily on a character that was neither evil nor a pirate.
