Short lease boats - return to port
The big selection of short term rentable ships is a great boon to occasional sailors, but there are two frustrating probems with the current system:
1) When someone rents a ship and logs out there is no way of knowing when the lease expires so you can take over, and the ships just lays somewhere, unusable to everyone. I would suggest that after logging out, with a delay of say 15 min to account for crashes, any short term ship lease you hold expires.
2) The Iron Throne Couriers can not be returned to port, even if you do rent them. I suspect this is a bug, but I hope it is one thet can be fixed.
I do love the sailing system, and hope the above points can improve it further.

I'd hazard a bet that the Couriers being un-returnable is because their leases are on the Guldorand server, instead of the Surface server (where the rest of the sailing content is.)Wethrinea wrote: Thu Aug 04, 2022 8:54 am 2) The Iron Throne Couriers can not be returned to port, even if you do rent them. Could potentially be fixed by moving the Iron Throne building itself out onto the docks... and then moving the Docks and all other sailing content out onto the Distant Shores server (please.)
what would fred rogers do?

I'm pretty sure both of these are already a thing, but I'm not entirely sure on #2. As for #1, that is exactly what happens. I'm not sure the exact time, but if the player is logged out for some amount of time (probably around 10 mins), you can use the return ship option on the quarter sign and it returns the ship and releases the quarter. I've done this multiple times.Wethrinea wrote: Thu Aug 04, 2022 8:54 am The big selection of short term rentable ships is a great boon to occasional sailors, but there are two frustrating probems with the current system:

For #2, release the quarter and try to return ship? The option is only available when you don't have it rented, afaik. But I don't rent the Guldorand ones much, so don't know for sure on that one.

The Guldorand rentals have some funky behaviour because the property plaque for them is on Guldorand server, where they're on Surface.
As an example; if Surface crashes, and you are out on a Guldorand rental, it can totally mess up the ownership. And you cannot recall the Iron Throne Courier ships (AFAIK) because the coding doesn't work cross-server.
Easiest fix for this would be to, yes, move the Iron Throne Courier building to Surface. Or at least to move the property plaques there.
