Flaming Fist Mercenaries

Post by JustMonika »

It'd be really nice if the key-keeper warned you in advance you require a leadership of 25 to be able to interact with any of the mercenaries.

As it stands, they'll just take your 2k in coin, let you in and then all laugh at you, and there's no way to know you're paying for nothing afterwards. There's also nothing what so ever on the wiki that suggests this is a side effect of the leadership skill.

It also doesn't feel it makes a huge amount of sense in character. These are sellswords, you're paying them, and you've already had to agree contract terms with the guy outside. Now you require an epic amount of leadership to convince one guy to follow you around in addition to paying them?

Edit - I guess I could go enchant myself +2 leadership gear in every slot, but I assume that's not what you want to encourage me to do?

Temporarily back to Arelith and currently 'Hanna'.

Also on this place, I'm not sure if I was missing anything but it seemed like my cleric could only hire the cleric mercs which was both odd and undesirable from my point of view.

These mercs have level ranges too. you need the noted leadership score to use them but you also need to be within a certain level range. This means that a fresh new character, maxing leadership, taking skill focus and making a lot of gear is still getting screwed over for 2k because they dont meet level requirement that isnt even listed anywhere in game. My advice would be to either max ranks investment + some gear, or no ranks investment and A LOT of gear. either way, you dont need to overkill your leadership score because of the level gates.

The weakest flaming fists have level range of something like 11-21, the slightly stronger ones are like 15-25 and then there's like one or two of them which are still useable at lvl 30. Roughly speaking.

If there's even more restrictions it'd be nice if these were signposted in game as well!
