Vampire Update

Post by CookieMonster »

Honestly. I am not feeling the Vampire update. Whilst the loss of damage makes sense, the lack of clarity in what the penalties are, when they are applied etc makes it a bit... *Sigh*

Does it mean we loose regen faster, soft stats faster? As the reduction of Regeneration, and the loss of soft stats occurs as quickly as 75% and below and by 40% you are pretty much base form. So their is no greater motivation to stay fed than this. How does one even discover -50%

Also.. The lack of clarity regarding the rest bar.

We are still governed by the Rest %, functionally we are required to be below 50% to rest or 30 minute intervals. BUT. We can't see that information anymore, so it makes resting as a Caster very, very difficult to do. But on a flip side, that also means when we are 'Exhausted' and suffering stat penalties, we won't know why... Because we can't see a rest bar.

Plus. As well as making it impossible to track the rest % that we need to maintain to be able to rest, you also removed the timer that indicates how long we need to wait to rest above 50%? We just get a generic message about urge for blood instead of "Time 18 minutes"

As I understand it the penalties should only kick in when you are starving (-50% and below).

Right?

Does typing -date not show you the rest percentage?

The update essentially hides the rest meter and prevents it from ever falling below 0.0%, so you are never going to actually encounter exhaustion penalties. As letting them rest without any kind of limitation was not an option, the only alternative was limiting them to one rest every 30 minutes as per the cooldown, which would have been a lot less pleasant for any casters out there, I imagine :)
Even so, good point about the missing rest timer - will re-enable it.

The penalties for negative blood meter scores essentially mirror the bonuses, except that regeneration is not applied as negative regeneration, but rather used to calculate the extent of starvation debuffs. The amount of negative regeneration (which can range from 1 to 6) will be referenced as X for the following penalties:
  • A -X penalty to AB, AC, skills, and saving throws
  • An additional -X penalty to concentration
  • (5 * X)% miss chance and spell failure
These debuffs are applied alongside the existing STR/DEX/CON decreases and, eventually, movement speed penalties encountered at such low scores.

Sweet, thanks!!
