The rules state "Characters are also forbidden from using famous names. This includes celebrities, historical figures or characters canonically established in the setting."
I get this. It makes total sense!
But then why are there character running around named:
Aspect of Astilabor - Claiming to be the avatar of a less know Dragon Goddess
Eilistraee - flat out name of an Elven Goddess
Graz'zt - The name of a Demon Prince in DnD
Helm - Flat out the name of another God. At least add a metal to it. Iron Helm, Silver Helm, Plumed Helm, something!
Iuz the Old One - Less know but the demigod son of Graz'zt, who takes the appearance of an old man (boarder line since it is cannon to Greyhawk and not Forgotten Realms)
Jergal, The End of Everything - Oh come on! The name of the God AND his title
Laduguer, the Taskmaster - Again, the name of a God and his title
Lathander in a dog collar - And the priest players of this god are not hunting him down for blasphemy?
Luthic, The Cave Mother - An Orc goddess with her title
Manifestation of Ilsensine - This player is saying he is the Avatar of an illithid God
Mother of All Plagues - The title of Talona (Goddess)
Morninglord - Title of Lathander (God)
Orcos, Prince of Undeath - A pale attempt to hide Orcus (Demon Lord) Prince of Undeath (with his title)
Tymora - Goddess
Tempus - God
The Dancing Lady - Border line using the title of the goddess Eilistraee
The Moonmaiden - The title of Selûne (Goddess)
Characters whose very name say "I am a God" or "I am an avatar of the god ____"
Are such character really allowed? We allowed to role play Gods/Demi-Gods/Avatars of the FR setting?
It seems it violates the very rule I underlined at the start.
