Taking a wrong feat at lvl 1. Oopsie Woopsie!

Post by Seekeepeek »

Hey

The Intention of -setstat/-setclass

The functionality of -setstat/-setclass was created as a helpful tool for when major class changes affecting characters are enacted within the server, and potentially to help small changes to a character. These are not meant to wildly change a character concept/class*/etc. but meant to ease the burden of changes and again, small mistakes. This tool was also not meant to replace gift changes, and in the spirit of that, we will not be offering any gift changes to characters. (Examples have been provided below)

a small mistakes is taking a wrong feat at lvl 1, is that still possible to have that changed or has it been taken away too?

level 1: Power attack --> expertise

If it puts a strain on the DM team to fix wrong lvl 1 feat, can't it be made automatic and be included in -relevel? (not sure if possible)

Everything except -relevel was intentionally disabled so it would make no sense to include these things in another command.

Yeah, just want the level 1 feat included in -relevel. I totally agree, that -setstat/-setclass had to go.

It's not that you can't by choice but because of how relevel works

All relevel does is sets you to level one and let's you retake all prior levels back and make changes accordingly. It's a rather simple command

Changing it to allow you to retake level 0 feats to my knowledge is not possible without entirely changing it or forcibly allowing there to be a level 0 or other contrivances that could break stuff

Aka sadly it's a mechanical limitation more than a choice

You can -remake. Make sure that you select the same awards if they were used on a character. Items/gold cannot be transferred to your new character, and a third party must not be used to then gain these things back either. That's the cost of getting to start over.

That sounds like a pretty bad deal, anyone has any experience using this?

It just feels incredibly sad that your initial feat can screw you up so bad.

If your first feat is something you will definitely always need, like Blind Fight you are golden. You can later on relevel some feats away to change your character slightly.

One of my characters is stuck with 2-handed weapon focus at level 1 and all I want it to be able to use Polearm instead, it's not even a major change to the character's identity, could easily be explained by dedicating some time to training another weapon, and I am just stuck with it forever.

It's really not a big deal. You have ways to fix mistakes if they're that important, and if they're not that important then don't worry about it. We had the ability to help people with this but it wasn't being used properly, so was adjusted: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=21795&start=75#p314688
It was then discontinued on 30th Sep: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=21795&start=75#p327279

DM Wraith's explanation covers the why. It might come back in a different form in future, but we don't know yet.
