Master Summoners and You - Carrying Around Random Books

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Master Summoners and You - Carrying Around Random Books

Post by DrVindaloo »

Why is it that even the most talented summoners need to carry around a specific attunement book, (or set of books), just to be able to choose what they summon? Or heck, still need to deal with random planars showing up when they use Planar Binding. These are the best of the best. They should be able to have some control on their own.

I think it would be a small, but very fun change, to allow characters with Epic Conjuration to choose which elementals they summon on the fly, rather than needing an attunement book. It would give them the versatility to choose what they need based on the situation. It's not a huge buff, but it would be very much appreciated for us summoners out there.

A somewhat more significant, but still fun change, would be to let them choose which Planar creature they conjure up with Planar Binding and maybe Gate. It would prevent any meta foolishness, and would let Master summoners feel like they truly mastered the art.

The problem with doing stuff on the fly is that there's no good hook for it (and you can't open convos in combat).

Best we could do is a -console command that you used before casting to change mode. But I'm not a fan.
