Overall Summons Rework [Outdated!]

Re: Overall Summons Rework
At this current moment I despise myself. Two days earlier, I deleted my necromancer as I had lost hope in waiting.
Perhaps this meant that a Sacrefice of a high level Necromancer was required?
It must be so, the gods needed one of their servants to fall!

That's the way of evil. Waiting for people to lose hope. To accept the Lie of Hope.
(what a damn great book I found in game. check libraries guys, some great books in there!)
When the pure shadows dancers delete their chars, I will ship the special SD summons. Same with death domain clerics.

Re: Overall Summons Rework
Can we get a write up of how the new undead update works?
"Tell me Man; Is there not one in all your ranks? Is there no one who values courage over life?"
Re: Overall Summons Rework
it's written somewhere arround the forums.
Re: Overall Summons Rework
Hm. What are the plans for the death Domain clerics special thing by the way? Dont think I found anything on it yet.

Yellena wrote:How things will work will be all up to Mith, so what I say below may or may not happen. From what I remember:
Mummy Dust and Epic PM's Class Ability will able to summon Tier 4 Undeads.
The other spells will all summon an Undead based on Caster Level (possible full PM levels taken into account for that). Each spell used will summon an extra Undead, up to one per Spell Focus in Necromancy (up to 3 at same time).
With the above, as you may notice, PMs will be the only able to have two Tier 4 Undeads at once (one with Mummy Dust and one with it's own ability). Something to make up for the huge spell casting sacrifice they make.
It's important to remember that PM's summons a Dracolich with Dragon Knight Spell!

Just as an update.
The Undeads's rework moved from "Soon (tm)" to "Very Soon (tm)". Just need to finish the Bloodwraith line and test them (AI, DCs, behavior and such).
I will possible send them to Mith with a patch to fix some of the current summon's bugs and unbalances.
Quick Preview:
General Properties:
-Undeads Immunities
-Cold Resist 5/- and 10/- at Tier 4
-Negative Damage Immunity (makes sense...)
-Divine and Positive Damage Vulnerability (+100%)
Zombie Stream: Zombie>Skeleton>Mummy>Mummy Lord
-Slow (can't run), good physical resistance (lower than earth elemental tought), elemental damage vulnerability (fire). Medium Damage.
Ghoul Stream: Ghoul>Ghast>Wight>Vampire
-Fast and Very Fast at later tiers. Low defenses. Very high damage and Vampiric Regeneration.
Bloodwraith Steam: Wraith>Spectre>Ghost>Banshee
-Fast. High elemental defenses and agility. Very high DR against non magical weapons. Very low physical damage. Casters and "cripplers". Later tiers uses heavy necromancy magic (*coughs* wail *coughs*).
Will also ask Mith to try some of his magic and make a random roll on the appearances, as we have many versions of the undeads. =D
Sorry to post twice, this is for the people who wanted to see how earlier posts explained this system.
How many palemaster levels are required for Tier IV undead ? Can a lvl 20 sorc 10 palemaster get there, or does it require more than 10 palemaster levels ?

As far as I've seen they seem exactly the same... at least at the moment. >.>
BUT! I noticed summoned ghasts (from the BG summon) has more hp, str, and changes. Which is awesome... did Doom Knights not get put in yet maybe? o.0

Re: Overall Summons Rework
Keep in mind that was all old info
Re: Overall Summons Rework
Code: Select all
// Casters can have up to one minion per Spell Focus in Necromancy (min 1).
// The first is summoned as a usual creature (i.e. in the summon slot).
// The second and third, if applicable, take up henchman slots.
// Each distinct spell can only summon one minion (so casting animate dead
// twice won't net you a second minion, even with GSF).
// There are three streams of undead (zombie, ghoul and wraith). Zombie is
// the default. PCs can do rituals to change stream.
// There are 4 tiers of creature. Tier 2 kicks in at level 11, Tier 3 at 16,
// and Tier 4 when you have the Mummy Dust spell.
// Your effective level is the sum of your Cleric, Wizard, Sorc and PM levels.
The creatures are:
Zombie stream: Zombie, Skeleton, Mummy, Mummy Lord
Ghoul stream: Ghoul, Ghast, Wight, Vampire
Wraith stream (coming soon): Specter, Wraith, Banshee, Lich

Re: Overall Summons Rework
Does the PM animate dead ability or the mummy dust epic spell count as a separate undead-creating spell for the purposes of getting three undead?

Re: Overall Summons Rework
PM Animate dead and Summon Undead at least seem to function the same. No idea about mummy dust.
Are there going to be places where the information on how to do the rituals can be pieced together?

Re: Overall Summons Rework
That is going to be left to FOIG.

Re: Overall Summons Rework
Yes. PM abilities should count differently from the spell versions of the same abilities. And Mummy Dust is a separate spell.Hunter548 wrote:Does the PM animate dead ability or the mummy dust epic spell count as a separate undead-creating spell for the purposes of getting three undead?

Re: Overall Summons Rework
so its not a bug... logged on my level 7 cleric that was able to summon er bear (GSF conjuration) and 2 skeletons (GSF Necromancy) but is now only able to summon 1 zombie.. this new system seams kinda hard on a low level necromancer, and Spell focus conjuration is now a waste for a necromancer. *signs*
Re: Overall Summons Rework
Yes, conjuration and necromancy are now basically opposed schools. No more having a powerful 'normal' summon and multiple undead to swarm. So undead aren't a straight upgrade (which, under the old system, made bad guys simply better mages than good guys).
It's not a complete waste though - it gives you flexibility. If your undead gang are weak against a particular opponent, you can pull out the elemental instead, and vice versa.

Re: Overall Summons Rework
but still without the conjuration, just 1 zombie, where i had 2 skeletons before.
still kinda hard for the low level necromancer.

Re: Overall Summons Rework
No harder than for any other low level summoner!

Re: Overall Summons Rework
I'm just curious... if it's going to be FOIG for the rituals... who are going to be the first to get the privilege to be told?
Unless there's going to be system where we can stumble upon it and then know it?

Re: Overall Summons Rework
Currently there is one place in the module where you can switch summons. It's pretty obvious, really, though working out how to activate it may take some trial and error.

Re: Overall Summons Rework
If the Death domain ability has not yet been modded, may I suggest that the cleric may choose from one of the three streams when they make their charather, and it would evolve according to the list above?
