This was always a go to spell for paladins. Thier AB progression follows that of a fighter but unless they are a STR build they fall behind quickly. Divine Favour equalized this.

They get passive AB bonuses. Check this page carefully for the full list of features: https://wiki.nwnarelith.com/Paladin

as Monkey said, they get passive ab now (which actaully had to get partial nerfed because current state of paladins is really good).
I noticed you said unless str build
I mean are not all a paladins str builds with merely enough cha for casting/div might/shield?
If you are trying to make ye old great smiter, I highly recommend checking out divine champion changes. The class not reward having a higher hard charisma but giving you passive bonus ab for it.

Re: Why Did Paladins Lose Divine Favour?
I've build a Charisma and partial Dex Paladin actually. There's a method to the madness, though. High CHA equals more spells. Being Halfling I needed to ensure lighter armor but still decent ab. Also, Divine Might and Divine shield gain the benefit of being stronger for it's duration. He'll still be a bit of a glass cannon, but that cannon is made stronger with Greater Smiting feats in epics.
The biggest benefit to Paladins on Arelith is moving spell casting to Charisma based. Sure, they lose the ability to move spells around based on the mission, but it made Paladins stronger by not spreading their abilities so thin.
